Optimization of surface roughness in machining of titanium composite using taguchi method
摘要
Titanium alloy and its composite are used in advanced manufacturing and metal industries due to admirable material properties. This paper present the Taguchi optimization and tool wear in machining of titanium composite which is made from stir casting technique. The reinforcement such as boron carbide (B4C) is considered with a mixture of 6% weight proportions. Hence, it has transferred to investigation on Abrasive Water Jet Machining (AWJM) process. The desirable factors are derived from taguchi method. The optimal surface roughness was attained at water pressure of 1200 bar, traverse speed of 50 mm/min and standoff distance of 2 mm. The surface roughness is mainly depending on water pressure and it is produced 90% of effect on SR.
