MOFs-based materials: a trendy hybrid catalyst for hydrogenation of aromatic nitro compounds

The emergence of networks and varieties of hybrid materials based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is giving rise to innovative applications in the science and technology of materials design. These materials based on MOFs combine the exceptional characteristics of their structures, including high crystallinity, large surface areas, considerable porosity and the ability to accommodate functional groups, providing enhanced chemical and mechanical stability. In addition to these outstanding characteristics, these pioneering hybrid materials hold great promise for addressing a variety of environmental challenges. This review highlights recent advances in the design and synthesis of MOF-based materials, focusing on their potential as catalyst systems for the reduction of nitroaromatic compounds, a critical class of pollutants.
