Enhancement of aluminium-silicon hypereutectic cast alloys properties by forging with refiner and modifier
摘要
The microstructures and mechanical characteristics of four distinct hypereutectic Aluminum-Silicon (Al-Si) cast alloys were examined in this research before and after the forging process. Also, the effects of grain refiners and grain modifiers on the characteristics were investigated. From the experimental work, the combination of grain refiner and modifier along with the forging process, the alloy is having a uniform microstructure of α-Si dendrites and interdendritic of eutectic Si fine particles. In comparison to alloys alloyed with either solitary grain refiners or modifiers, the combination of adding both to the alloy showed superior mechanical qualities in the as-cast condition. Reduced primary dendrites, uniform eutectic silicon distribution, and inter-dendritic precipitation of small eutectic silicon particles after forging are all factors that contribute to the improved mechanical characteristics of hypereutectic Al-Si cast alloys.
