摘要

Country-made firearms are frequently implicated in acts of violence across India and other nations. Examining these firearms, which are potentially used in crimes, is a crucial aspect of forensic ballistics. They are unlawfully employed in various criminal activities, including murder, armed robbery, rioting, and poaching. The routine examination of country-made firearms encompasses both internal and external characteristics. This study aims to review the literature on the characteristic features of such firearms, including total length, action type, magazine nature and capacity, barrel length, rounding number, muzzle diameter and thickness, chamber diameter and thickness, and firing pin. This research emphasizes the importance of identifying these features and advocates for the standardization of identifiable traits. Understanding the distinct features of country-made firearms can significantly contribute to forensic investigations and law enforcement efforts aimed at curbing firearm-related crimes.
