摘要

Aluminium alloy is extensively recognized as a favored material for the making of lightweight components with high strength. To further enhance its strength, reinforcement is often combined into these alloys. This study focuses on investigating the AA2024 aluminum alloy as the base material, reinforced with TiB2 (R) at varying percentages 1%, 3%, and 5%. The analysis of wear in these composites is conducted under consistent conditions including an applied load (L) of 30 N, 40 N, and 50 N, sliding distance (S) of 1000 m 1500 m and 2000 m and sliding time (T) of 15 min as kept constant. The wear tests can be carried out using Pin on-disk equipment. The findings reveal a noticeable improvement in the wear resistance of AA2024/TiB2 composites upon the addition of reinforcement particles. As the content of TiB2 particles increases, the weight loss (WL) can be reduced. Conversely, an increase in the applied load correlates with an elevated weight loss of the samples. It is observed that the WL of the composite material improves when the load is increased from 35 to 50 N and when the reinforcement of TiB2 is decreased to less than 2% wt.
