Methodological Foundations for the Concept of Smart Protection Device

The concept of “smart protection device” implies close links between its mathematical support and development environment. The cognitive capabilities of such a device are ensured by incorporating advanced machine learning and digital signal processing techniques, including adaptive structural analysis. The entire development process of a smart protection device is supported by the work environment that consists of data preparation, learning, and visualization areas. The data preparation area forms the foundation for the electrical system modes by simulation software. The learning environment transforms the information into a training dataset followed by its optimization, thus creating conditions for device activation in a multidimensional space. The display area provides a visual representation of the main stages of device learning. This concept has been tested when developing an intelligent mode discriminator.
