<p>The change of ice load on a shallow inclined structure caused by the formation of ice debris as a result of ice breakup has been investigated. Existing publications on this problem were analyzed, and a numerical model was developed and verified using data obtained from a laboratory experiment and through comparison with the results of the analytical method. With the help of this model, a number of calculations have been carried out to examine how the ice load on the structure changes as the volume of frozen and unfrozen ice debris formed in front of the structure increases. Relevant conclusions are drawn and potential directions for future research are identified.</p>
