Experience of Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod in Refurbishing Francis Turbine Runners Based on Modern Approaches

The article examines the experience of Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod (LMZ), a division of JSC Power Machines, in modernizing the main equipment of large hydroelectric power plants (HPP) accompanied by the replacement of mixed-flow (MF) turbine runners in Russia and abroad. By way of examples, the study describes the runners designed to refurbish the Bratsk, Sayano-Shushenskaya (both in Russia), Ust-Kamenogorsk (Kazakhstan), and Hòa Bình (Vietnam) HPP and compares the runners with the original ones.
