Necessity of Using an Experimental Method When Studying Tsunami

The article analyzes methods for studying the interaction of long tsunami-type waves with coastal structures focusing on the specific features of mathematical and physical modeling of the above-mentioned processes. We provide examples of the results obtained during experiments on studying the impact of tsunami waves on the bottom soil when they flow around hydraulic structures. The study concludes that it is necessary to create a specialized experimental facility equipped with a modern measurement and information system.
