Connectedness to Nature among the Kattunayakan Tribal Community in the Western Ghats
摘要
We aimed to examine how demographic variables and traditional religious beliefs relate to nature connectedness among the Kattunayakan community. A sample of 69 community members was surveyed, and inferential statistical techniques, including t-tests, correlation analysis, and regression analysis, were used to analyse the data. Results showed that females had higher nature connectedness and stronger belief in their traditional gods than males. Age was positively correlated with both nature connectedness and belief in traditional gods, whereas higher education was negatively correlated with belief in traditional gods. Belief in traditional gods significantly predicted higher nature connectedness. These findings highlight the role of Kattunayakan traditional belief systems in shaping human-nature relationships and suggest that these variables may influence future nature connectedness within the Kattunayakan community.
