<p>Extreme climatic and ecological fluctuations present significant challenges to rangeland management, increasing the vulnerability of livestock and natural resources. Understanding herders’ perceptions of climate change and their adaptive responses is crucial for reducing this vulnerability. We examine how herders in the Dehnamak rangelands of Semnan Province perceive climate change indicators and how these perceptions relate to their reports on Livestock and pasture conditions. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to 79 herders, selected via stratified random sampling from a population of 114. Validity and reliability were confirmed using expert evaluation, Average Variance Extracted (AVE), Cronbach’s alpha, and composite reliability. Descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling were used for analysis. Results show that 44.3% of respondents have a high perception of climate change indicators. Perception was positively associated with age, herding experience, and household size, and negatively associated with formal education. Interestingly, herders with greater climate awareness tended to report poorer conditions in livestock health, vegetation cover, rangeland water availability, and soil quality. These findings suggest that perception influences how herders interpret and respond to environmental stressors through management decisions. Increasing awareness of climate change indicators among herders can support adaptive land-use strategies and promote more sustainable rangeland management, especially in vulnerable dryland regions.</p>
