B4 RAF-like kinases: players of rapid auxin response in algae and plants

The nuclear auxin pathway, although missing in algae, is known to regulate gene expression and growth/development in land plants. A recent study characterized fast auxin-triggered proteome-wide phosphorylation across the plant kingdom facilitated by RAF-like protein kinases. B4 RAF protein kinases play a pivotal role in regulating rapid cellular responses, particularly in auxin signal transduction, through the activation of protein phosphorylation. Therefore, this study discovered a new mechanism in the green lineage for rapid auxin responses.
