Molecular fingerprinting of new mungbean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) landraces of Odisha for mungbean yellow mosaic virus (MYMV) resistance

For the purpose of phenotyping and simple sequence repeat (SSR) marker-based genetic fingerprinting for mungbean yellow mosaic virus (MYMV) resistance, twenty-eight landraces of mungbeans were chosen. Six gene-specific polymorphism markers were employed in the genotyping process. The software programs TASSEL 5.0 and GenAlE × 6.51b2 were used to carry out the diversity analysis. Certain genotypes, including “Dasapalla Brown Local,” “Dasapalla Green Local,” and “Berhampur Brown local,” exhibited a modest level of resistance against MYMV among the 28 mungbean landraces. Primer VR-095 (12.5%) showed the lowest polymorphism among the SSR markers, while DMB SSR-125 exhibited the largest polymorphism (69.5%). Heterozygosity (He) ranged from 19.5% to 72.2% in the current group of landraces. The range of Jaccard's genetic similarity values was 37% to 100%. The 28 mungbean landraces were categorized using cluster analysis into five clusters. Landraces from the distant cluster that have a significantly greater resistance to MYMV score may be beneficial. Dasapalla Green Local × IPM-02-3, Dasapalla Brown Local × IPM-02-3, Berhampur Brown Local × IPM-02-3, Dasapalla Green Local × OBGG-52 and Dasapalla Brown Local × OBGG-52 are among the few crosses that fit the aforementioned two criteria.
