<p>This study focuses on how Solar Home Systems (SHSs) influence socioeconomic conditions and empowerment in off-grid selected villages in Theni district, Tamil Nadu. The findings show that, 5.3% of sample households obtained SHSs through subsidized loans, 29.3% bought them, and 65.3% received them for free under government programs. For 52.7% of homes, the daily luminous length was 4 to 6&#xa0;h, with women (47.7%) and children (31.3%) gaining most benefits. With television (37.8%) and mobile charging (48.6%) as the two foremost uses, SHS adoption diminished the usage of fossil fuels (Kerosene) for 83.7% of respondents. Only 25.3% were involved in activities that generated revenue, mainly in the fields of agriculture (61.8%) and handicrafts (21%). The significant improvements in social, cultural, human, and economic empowerment are found in investigates; economic gains that backing social and human empowerment also noticeably predict overall empowerment. Nevertheless, this study also identifies challenges such as limited technical support, seasonal fluctuation, high prices, and minimal awareness of government programs. To spread SHSs advantages, the study underscores the need of local service set-up, awareness campaigns, and financial incentives. In remote Indian societies, this study confirmations that decentralized solar energy promotes empowerment, supports sustainable development, and enhances rural livelihoods and education.</p>
