<p>Over the past two decades, the Gurugram-Manesar Urban Complex (GMUC) has become a significant industrial area. It is located near New Delhi, the capital of India, and has grown to be an important part of the National Capital Region. This urban complex is of major industrial and economic importance to the state of Haryana in particular and the nation at large. The present study examines the spatio-temporal expansion of industries in the Gurugram-Manesar Urban Complex, highlighting its locational strengths and challenges through analysis of both primary and secondary data. Primary data has been used to analyze the locational advantages and challenges of the industrial units in this region, whereas secondary data has been used to understand the temporal and spatial expansion of these units. The principal findings of the study suggest that a substantial amount of the goods produced at GMUC are used locally, and big names like Maruti, Hero, and Honda become the major buyers of the products manufactured by local and small-scale industries. Proximity to Delhi (reported by 4.32 per cent industries) and availability of Labor (reported by 11.73 per cent industries) emerged as the most important locational advantages of the region. The area also possesses superior and extensive access to electricity, exceptional transit infrastructure, and collaboration between public and private sectors in waste management. Despite using a variety of technologies&#xa0;to control pollution, a large number of&#xa0;these companies are categorized as polluting, which has been identified as the most important challenge, along with over-dependence on migrant-labor.</p>
