<p>Vegetation is widely recognized as a critical factor in enhancing slope stability against shallow landslides, primarily through root reinforcement. The effectiveness of root-induced stabilization is largely governed by root spatial distribution and tensile strength. In the study of Li et al. (Geotech Geol Eng 42:1009–1019, 2024), a series of laboratory experiments were conducted to determine the mechanical and physical properties of soils containing vetiver roots, and analyses were undertaken to evaluate the impact of root morphology on the safety factor of the slope. The study of Li et al. (Geotech Geol Eng 42:1009–1019, 2024) has certain limitations and drawbacks, which are discussed.</p>
