摘要

In the present study, an experimental investigation has been performed to analyze the time-dependent heave behavior of expansive soil in unreinforced and reinforced conditions. The expansive clay bed was reinforced with Granular Anchor Pile and a Geogrid-Encompassed Granular Anchor Pile for different embedded lengths. The results indicated that the reinforced expansive soil reduced the free field heave as compared to the unreinforced clay bed. Further, within the reinforced expansive soil, encompassing the Granular Anchor Pile with the Geogrid reduces the heave at the center location more effectively. While the radial heave has an insignificant effect on the reinforcement type. The pullout test on the reinforced clay bed has also been conducted after the complete saturation. The maximum resistance to the pullout load has been observed for Geogrid-encompassed Granular Anchor Pile as compared to Granular Anchor Pile. A comparison was made of the ultimate uplift capacities of Granular Anchor Pile between before and after saturation of the expansive clayey bed. The critical length of the pile was obtained as 12- and 10-times diameter for after and before saturation state, respectively.
