Residual Strengths of RC Beams Strengthened with Basalt and Carbon Textile Reinforced Mortars After Exposure to Elevated Temperatures

Concrete members, when subjected to elevated temperatures/fire scenarios, will undergo complex material and structural changes. The residual strength of reinforced concrete structural members is an important parameter that should be understood for the continuous use of concrete elements when subjected to operational elevated temperatures exposure or even a fire accident. The current study intends to evaluate the structural performance of Textile Reinforced Mortar strengthened reinforced concrete beams after subjecting them to elevated temperatures. Two types of textile fibres are chosen to strengthen specimens. A set of temperature ranges was chosen to obtain all the strengthened specimens’ post-elevated temperature/residual behaviour. The study revealed that TRM-strengthened RC beams can sustain elevated temperatures up to 600°C. However, load carrying capacity reduced as the temperature increased.
