<p>A progressive method for giving textile materials antibacterial properties is to use dye-biocides to achieve the required effect during dyeing. This can avoid not only a special finishing stage but also strongly bind the biocide to the material. The present work focused on the synthesis of new azo dyes based on triclosan, a broad-spectrum drug. The synthesis conditions were selected. Color changes and solubilities of the dyes as functions of the solution pH, the possibility of using the dyes to dye hydrophobic and cellulose fibers, and the antibacterial activity of the dyes were studied.</p>
