High Frequency Low-Temperature Plasma Treatment of Thermally Modified Wood Filler and Its Effect on the Properties of Filled Polymers
摘要
This paper considers methods for preliminary thermal modification and subsequent high-frequency low-temperature plasma treatment of wood filler to improve the properties of wood-polymer composites (WPC). The impact of these procedures on the mechanical and rheological properties of composites, including tensile strength, impact toughness, melt flow, and hardness is presented. Particular attention is paid to the effect of different temperatures of heat treatment (180, 210, and 240°C) and subsequent plasma modification on the improvement of physical and mechanical characteristics of WPC. The thermal modification, especially at 210°C, in combination with plasma treatment is found to improve the strength parameters, which is associated with increased adhesion between the polymer matrix and wood filler. The results show that the proposed technology can be used to improve the quality of woodpolymer composites in various applications.
