Morphology and Physicomechanical Properties of Polymer Composite Materials Based on Low-Density Linear Polyethylene and Polypropylene Containing Quasicrystalline Fillers Al−Cu−Fe and Al−Cu−Fe−B

Several features of industrial production of a polymer composite material as a masterbatch-precursor based on low-density linear polyethylene (LDLPE) highly filled with Al−Cu−Fe and Al−Cu−Fe−B quasicrystals used to manufacture polymer products for various purposes were examined. Results from experimental studies of the effectiveness of the obtained masterbatches for subsequent modification of polypropylene (PP) were presented. Electron microscope studies of the nanofiller structure and xray fluorescence analysis were performed. The effect of the filler on the degree of crystallinity and melting point of the samples was studied. Mechanical tests of the polymer composite materials based on PP with various contents of quasicrystals were conducted. An increase in the quasicrystal content was found to increase the elastic modulus and tensile strength, which was especially noticeable for the lowest concentration of 0.25 wt%.
