Tailored literacy support: insights from award-winning teachers’ approaches
摘要
This qualitative case study examines how four award-winning teachers tailored their instruction in order to provide literacy support for their low-progress learners. Findings from the themes analysed and discussed in the study suggest that the teachers largely focussed on personalized strategies and a student-centred approach. They adapted lessons to address individual needs, employing targeted interventions and scaffolded activities to build foundational literacy skills. Focusing on student engagement and motivation, these teachers also created inclusive environments that foster confidence and encourage active participation. These findings underscore the importance of teacher expertise, creativity, and dedication in meeting the diverse needs of low-progress learners, illustrating how thoughtful and individualized instruction can enhance literacy outcomes in educational settings.
