Corporate green innovation and environmental subsidies: moderating influence of top management team characteristics
摘要
This study examines how environmental subsidies from the government affect businesses’ green innovation initiatives, as a function of top management team (TMT) characteristics. The study investigates whether financial support for environmental protection encourages businesses to invest in environmentally friendly technologies and innovation outcomes using panel data from listed companies (years 2018–2022). Furthermore, it looks into how differences in managerial characteristics—like composition, experience, and strategic orientation—affect how successful these subsidies are. The empirical results indicate that both subsidies and green innovations are positively correlated, suggesting that policy-driven financial incentives can motivate businesses to pursue sustainable technological development. Additionally, the findings show that certain traits of top management teams considerably moderate this relationship, depending on managerial perspectives and competencies, either increasing or decreasing the impact of subsidies. By combining institutional support mechanisms with upper-echelon theory, These results has practical ramifications for both businesses looking to improve their innovation performance through strategic leadership choices and policymakers trying to create more successful environmental subsidy programs. .
