Sustainable cosmetic applications of kaolinite clays: Mineral composition, functional performance, and safety assessment
摘要
Clay masks have been a cornerstone of cosmetic history, utilizing their inherent minerals for targeted benefits based on concentration. This study investigates the potential of natural kaolinite clays as a sustainable solution for cosmetic formulations. The methodology involved an in-depth analysis of their mineralogical composition, grain size, functional properties, and microbial safety. Results show that these kaolinite clays possess a refined mineral structure and specific particle sizes that support anti-inflammatory properties and skin hydration. Furthermore, the characterization reveals that the clays are suitable for aiding wound healing and meet safety standards due to the absence of harmful microbes. These findings demonstrate that the physical and chemical properties of natural kaolinite align with the requirements for safe and effective cosmetic raw materials. Thus, the study solidifies the position of these clays as eco-friendly ingredients that address the growing demand for sustainable cosmetics and environmental responsibility.
