摘要

The income of rural households stands as the primary driver behind the rural energy transition and upgrading. Based on the rural panel data encompassing thirty provinces in China from 2003 to 2022, this study employs a panel threshold model to examine the threshold effects of rural household income on residential energy consumption concentration (RECC). The findings are as follows: (1) Rural household income has a significant dual-threshold effect on RECC, manifesting an initial positive influence followed by a negative influence. (2) As the income surpasses the second threshold, its negative influence on RECC significantly weakens. (3) RECC in low- and middle-income regions shows no significant convergence characteristics. In contrast, provinces with high income levels tend to exhibit a stronger convergence towards their respective steady-state levels. Based on these results, this study proposes adopting differentiated energy policies to promote transformation of rural energy structures.
