<p>This review paper critically scrutinized the three main parameters of solar still to highlight the production yield and gain in enhancement in productivity of solar still. Distillation techniques are required to provide freshwater to meet the needs of humankind. Researchers and scientists studying alternate techniques to increase the solar distillation efficiency by providing modification in its design. The endeavor is examined severely in this review paper to evaluate the effect of wick material, pyramid shape and Phase Change Material (PCM) in combination with solar still. Results obtained from this paper finds the highest value of production yield of 13.58&#xa0;L/m<sup>2</sup> and 8.432&#xa0;L/m<sup>2</sup> using jute and cotton as wick material respectively. Among pyramid shapes, square pyramid has highest yield production from triangular and rectangular shape of value 10&#xa0;L/m<sup>2</sup>, 7.99&#xa0;L/m<sup>2</sup> and 4.25&#xa0;L/m<sup>2</sup> respectively. The maximum value of production yield using paraffin wax and stearic acid as PCM are 12&#xa0;L/m<sup>2</sup> and 5.6&#xa0;L/m<sup>2</sup> respectively. Furthermore, future recommendations also suggested based on this review paper to address several critical aspects of solar still design and operation, including materials, efficiency, and water quality, contributing to more effective and sustainable solar desalination solutions.</p>
