Study on the adsorption of acid red 18 in wastewater with magnetic biochar composite derived from corn straw
摘要
Herein, a magnetic biochar composite (MBC) adsorbent has been synthesized by using corn straw as precursor for acid red 18 (AR18) dye adsorption in water. The as-prepared MBC was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method. The impact of diverse parameters including contact time (0 – 1440 min), temperature (25 – 150 mg L–1), initial concentration (15 – 45 °C) as well as pH value (2 – 10) of AR18 dye on adsorption capacity was studied systematically. A batch of experiments were performed to reveal isotherms and kinetic behaviors during AR18 adsorption procedure. Langmuir isotherm equilibrium model (R2 = 0.9892) was considered as the best fits to the study results, while the maximum adsorption capacity of AR18 dye with as-synthesized MBC could achieve 164.4 mg g–1 with the removal efficiency of 82.19%. It is more favorable for pseudo-second-order model (R2 = 0.9999) to depict AR18 adsorption behavior based on obtained experimental data. Furthermore, the analysis concluded that the procedure of AR 18 adsorption using as-prepared MBC was spontaneous and endothermic essentially owing to calculated thermodynamic parameters. Moreover, MBC posts great potential for AR18 adsoption from wastewater on account of the easy accessibility, excellent recyclability, and ecological friendliness, holding an ideal channel for the utilization of agricultural waste.
