<p>Since the 2000s, urbanization has rapidly expanded into the city’s outer areas, moving towards rural settlements with low population density. Rural settlements within the city boundaries could not escape being seen as high-density urban development areas. Particularly, agricultural and forest lands have been converted into urban landscapes, encompassing residential areas, industrial sites, and transportation networks. This study delineates, analyzes, and evaluates the alterations in land cover resulting from the policies implemented in rural settlements designated as urban development zones. Çünür Neighborhood (formerly a village) and Sav Town (formerly a village), situated in the city center of Isparta, Türkiye, were selected as the study area. The land use/cover change (LULC) and historical urban planning policies of these two settlements were analyzed. LULC between 2012 and 2018 was categorized based on Urban Atlas (UA) land cover data, and the settlements were evaluated with the change matrix. As a result, it was determined that 156.24&#xa0;ha of agricultural land in Çünür Neighborhood (ÇN) and 16.29&#xa0;ha in Sav Town (ST) were converted into urban tissue. As a result of the examinations, it was determined that there was a tendency for urban transformation in agricultural and forest areas to be converted into residential and industrial areas, with the policies pursued for rural settlements.</p>
