Promoting or inhibiting? How green transformation of agricultural development influence rural production space system resilience

As a pivotal pathway toward achieving the SDGs, green transformation of agricultural development (GTAD) has emerged as a novel driver for diversifying rural industries. Serving as the spatial carriers of this transformation, rural production space system (RPSS) is profoundly shaped by its implementation. Understanding these underlying impact mechanisms for advancing green, inclusive, and sustainable development has garnered significant attention. This study employs panel data from 2013 to 2022 in the Western Chongqing region, a designated National Urban-Rural Integrated Development Experimental Zone, utilizing mediating effects and threshold regression models to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of GTAD on rural production space system resilience (RPSSR). The findings are as follows: (1) GTAD enhances RPSSR. (2) A single threshold effect governs this relationship, with GTAD shifting from inhibitory to promotive post-threshold. (3) Mediated by increased agricultural production efficiency (APE), GTAD strengthens RPSSR. (4) Spatial heterogeneity analysis reveals differential impacts across development contexts, with amplified effects observed in regions exhibiting higher agricultural economic development, environmental protection intensity, rural digitization, and tourism specialization.
