Integrating digitalization, renewable energy, and institutional drivers in logistics sector: advancing sustainable economic growth in Asian economies

This study investigates the relationship between digitalization, renewable energy, and sustainable economic growth within the logistics sector, focusing on 15 developing and emerging Asian nations from 1996 to 2022. Using panel cointegration techniques (FMOLS and DOLS), the analysis examines how logistics transformation impacts sustainability outcomes across diverse institutional and economic contexts. Findings demonstrate a significant positive association between digital infrastructure, renewable energy integration, and improvements in logistics sustainability. Digital payment systems and sustainable logistics practices are closely linked to economic performance. The adoption of electric vehicles, however, presents implementation challenges related to charging infrastructure, operational scale, and cost efficiency. Causality tests confirm bidirectional relationships between sustainable growth, digital logistics, and the adoption of renewable energy. By incorporating both macro-structural conditions and demand-side dynamics, the study offers a comprehensive empirical framework for long-term sustainability planning. Policy implications underscore the importance of coordinated investment, institutional alignment, and technology integration in advancing sustainable logistics and inclusive economic development across Asian economies.
