<p>Habitat quality (HQ) is a key factor for regional ecological restoration and green development. Although scientific information on the drivers of HQ dynamics can support effective biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use (LU), only Limited information is available to generally understand the drivers of HQ dynamics and the extent of their impacts. The aim of this review is therefore to provide an overview of the drivers of HQ dynamics. PRISMA, Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis method, was used to examine how environmental scientists discovered the driving forces behind HQ dynamics. Several inclusion and exclusion criteria were defined for the suitability of the Literature to be included. For this review, all research articles in the issue from the Zendy Digital Library and Google Scholar databases published in environmental journals in the fields of biodiversity and habitat between 2013 and 2023 were considered. A total of 34 research articles examining the driving forces of HQ dynamics consistent with other studies such as land use-land cover change (LULCC) were considered for this review after screening. The results showed that the grouping of drivers of HQ dynamics was inconsistent among researchers, which is likely due to the specific local interactions of the drivers and may result in a lack of common consensus on this topic.
