<p>Food security remains a critical global challenge, with the availability of food resources forming one of its key dimensions. Understanding the complex interdependencies among indicators of availability is essential for designing effective interventions. This study uses Bayesian Belief Network (BBN) models to examine these interrelationships using 2022 data from 113 countries within the Global Food Security Index (GFSI). Two BBN models are constructed to assess how individual availability indicators influence both the availability dimension itself and food security. The findings reveal that supply chain infrastructure plays a pivotal role, directly influencing socio-political barriers to food access and levels of food loss. Agricultural research and development also emerge as a crucial driver of system-wide resilience. Comparative analysis between high- and low-performing countries highlights that high-ranking nations excel in sufficiency of supply and minimizing food loss, while lower-performing countries face systemic issues related to agricultural inputs and infrastructure deficits. Recommended interventions include investing in supply chain infrastructure, promoting public-private partnerships, and enhancing agricultural extension services. Such strategies can improve resource efficiency, stimulate rural economies, and reduce environmental degradation while enhancing equity in food access. The study provides an integrated, data-driven perspective on food availability dynamics. It demonstrates the utility of BBNs in modeling the multidimensional nature of food security.</p>
