<p>With the fast - paced advancement of urbanization in China, the rational allocation of limited urban land resources to satisfy the expanding demands has grown increasingly vital. Elevating the urban land green use efficiency (ULGUE) presents a viable approach to achieving sustainable urban development. This research employs the Super-EBM model to gauge the ULGUE across 30 provinces in China for the period spanning from 2013 to 2020. Furthermore, it integrates GTWR, PVAR, and mediation effect models to delve into the manner in which the digital economy (DE) influences ULGUE. The findings demonstrate that DE has a positive and significant impact on ULGUE, exhibiting a pronounced inverted U-shaped relationship. The effect diminishes from east to west, and labor reallocation mediates this relationship, while capital and land resource allocation show no mediating role. The study concludes that DE is a key driver of ULGUE but calls for policies addressing regional disparities and resource allocation to fully realize its potential. Recommendations include differentiated regional policies, integrating DE with urban planning, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders to promote sustainable urban development.</p>
