Towards a just city in Tehran: in searching for socio-spatial justice
摘要
The relationship between spatial phenomena and social justice and just city, in general, has been studied mainly in developed countries. Therefore, the theoretical development of this concept and attention to it in the context of the third-world cities are also significant. In this study, we examine the status of Tehran from the perspective of just city indicators. In order to guide the research, we used a combined method. To rank the regions in Tehran, we used the Vikor method. We also used GIS software to rate the regions and the Hotspot method to show how the space was distributed. Finally, we used LISREL software to analyze the effects of the criteria and indicators of just city.. Findings from the Vikor and GIS software indicate the inequality in urban facilities and services across the 22 districts in Tehran. The results of the Hotspot method state that hot spots are almost in the center and north of Tehran, while the cold spots are located in the southwestern part of Tehran. The average rate obtained based on the components and indicators of just city demonstrates that Tehran is around or below average. Based on the analysis of the findings, the criteria and indicators of just city are not appropriately positioned in the spatial structure of the 22 districts of TehranThe results of the research make the city managers and planners aware about their performance, and the current situation is a turning point for them that should be considered fundamentally to seek a justice-oriented approach for managing their cities.
