<p>Enterprise digital transformation (DT) is crucial as it fosters innovation and drives the advancement of green technology within organizations, making it a key component of the digital economy. This study applies panel threshold models and fixed effect models to empirically investigate the relationship of DT with green innovation (GI). Key findings include the following: (1) DT significantly influences the promotion of GI. (2) Nonlinear relationship shows: when R&amp;D investment is below the threshold value 1.45, the effect of DT on spurring GI is circumscribed; when it exceeds 1.45, the influence of DT on promoting GI exhibits a gradual increase. (3) From a life-cycle perspective, there is significant stage heterogeneity. During the growth stage, DT has a minimal impact on GI. However, in the maturity and decline stages, DT's influence on enhancing GI becomes progressively more significant. (4) By categorizing enterprises according to industry differences and ownership characteristics, the research discloses that DT exerts a more pronounced influence on GI within the manufacturing realm compared to other sectors. Additionally, the impact is stronger in state-owned enterprises (SOEs) compared to their non-state-owned enterprises (Non-SOEs). Finally, it put forward corresponding policies, such as encouraging adoption of cloud computing and blockchain to enhance innovation capabilities and making sector-specific digital transformation plans.</p>
