<p>Poverty is a complex and persistent social challenge in the twenty-first century, especially in developing countries facing socioeconomic and environmental issues. Sudan, being one of the countries where poverty exacerbates environmental degradation, underscores the need to examine the link between environmental degradation and household poverty. This study addresses this gap by using the Foster–Greer–Thorbecke (FGT) poverty measures alongside&#xa0;binary logistic regression analysis. It utilizes data&#xa0;collected from 300 households&#xa0;in four regions&#xa0;of North Kordfan state, Sudan, to&#xa0;investigate the relationship between household poverty and environmental degradation. The results show that 65.5% of the households live below the poverty line, and the poverty gap indicates that low-income households need approximately 21% of the poverty line’s value to escape poverty. The binary logistics regression model identified several key factors that significantly influence household poverty, including the number of cattle grazing on farmland, the duration of grazing, the collected amount of fuelwood and monoculture practice. Furthermore, awareness of natural resource conservation seems to help reduce poverty levels. Based on these findings, the study suggests targeted interventions for impoverished households, along with integrated policies that align environmental conservation with poverty alleviation efforts. It also emphasizes the importance of promoting sustainable practices and fostering stronger collaboration among stakeholders at both the local and national levels to improve resource management and reduce poverty.</p>
