Spatial effect decomposition of new-type urbanization on green development efficiency in China: based on an improved spatial DID model
摘要
China's traditional urbanization model has led to environmental degradation, so new-type urbanization (NTU) that pursues sustainable development is proposed. However, empirical evidence about nexus between NTU and green development efficient (GDE) remain scarce. This research examines the impact of NTU policy on GDE in 191 cities in China from 2006 to 2019. The findings indicate that NTU has a positive effect on GDE of both local and surrounding cities. Moreover, NTU downgrades GDE in surrounding treatment group while accelerate in surrounding control group. Considering city-sized heterogeneity, NTU inhibits GDE in small cities, while promotes GDE in large and medium cities and Megacity; NTU accelerates GDE of surrounding control group in large and medium municipalities, exhibits negative effects on GDE of surrounding experimental group in megacities. Considering the differences in resource endowments, the NTU policy positively influences local GDE in both resource-rich and resource-poor cities. However, it deteriorates GDE of neighboring cities within the experimental group, while positively affecting the GDE of nearby cities in the control group, particularly in resource-poor areas. Considering regional heterogeneity, NTU promotes GDE in eastern and central provinces, while inhibits GDE of surrounding experimental group in eastern region, promotes GDE of surrounding experimental group in western region and GDE of surrounding control group in eastern, central and western provinces.
