Analysis of the determinants of environmental product export competitiveness: evidence from China
摘要
Based on the background that countries worldwide generally advocate green, low-carbon, and sustainable development, we analyze the export competitiveness of China's environmental products based on the APEC environmental product list. By constructing a competitiveness index for comprehensive evaluation, we find that only renewable energy equipment in the four major categories of environmental products has greater competitiveness and a larger market share. In contrast, environmental monitoring and analysis and evaluation equipment, environmental protection products, and environment-friendly products have a weaker competitiveness. Using China's relevant data from 2007 to 2020, the PLS model is established to explore the influencing factors of China's environmental product competitiveness based on the diamond theory by selecting nine indicators in five categories and found that the total investment in environmental pollution control is the core factor affecting the renewable energy equipment and environmentally friendly products; and the number of employees in the environmental protection industry is the most significant influencing factor in the environmental monitoring, analysis and evaluation equipment; The state budget funds for fixed asset investment in environmental management industry is the most important influencing factor for the competitiveness of environmentally friendly products.
