<p>Investigating whether digital agriculture extension facilitates farmers’ participation in e-commerce is of paramount significance. This paper meticulously analyzes the impact mechanisms of these services on farmers’ engagement in e-commerce, using micro-level data from seven provinces along the Yellow River in China. Our findings reveal that adopting digital agriculture extension significantly enhances farmers’ participation in e-commerce. This effect is particularly pronounced among younger, more educated farmers; households affiliated with industry organizations; those with access to credit facilities; and regions with high rural internet penetration and advanced digitalization of rural life. Mechanism tests further indicate that digital agriculture extension fosters farmers’ e-commerce participation by: (1) reducing dependence on informal networks, (2) overcoming spatial disparities, and (3) improving the effectiveness of subjective information welfare. The study’s conclusions provide empirical evidence and policy insights for integrating digital agriculture extension into rural economic development strategies and addressing the evolving demands of e-commerce.</p>
