<p><i>Alternaria brassicae</i> causes black spot, a highly destructive foliar disease in canola and other cruciferous plant species, particularly within the genus <i>Brassica</i>. In Uruguay, the pathogen had previously only been documented in cabbage, with no official reports in canola or wild brassicaceous plants. In this study, fungal isolates were obtained from symptomatic canola and wild radish plants. DNA sequencing of both isolates revealed 99.6% and 99.2% identity to <i>A. brassicae</i>, and morphological characteristics supported this identification. Pathogenicity assays were conducted on canola, wild turnip, <i>Brassica rapa</i> × <i>B. napus</i> hybrid, and wild radish. All inoculated hosts developed symptoms, confirming the pathogenicity of the isolates and fulfilling Koch’s postulates. These findings provide the first confirmed report of <i>A. brassicae</i> infecting canola and wild brassicaceous hosts in Uruguay, highlighting the potential role of alternative hosts in disease epidemiology.</p>
