<p>This study examines Chinese A-share listed manufacturing firms from 2010 to 2023 to analyze the impact of digital transformation on radical green innovation (RGI). The findings indicate that digital transformation significantly enhances RGI. The mechanism analysis reveals that this effect is achieved through the optimization of human capital structure and an increase in R&amp;D resources. Furthermore, we find that the contribution of digital transformation to RGI is more pronounced in large-scale, non-state-owned enterprises, in firms with stronger internal governance, and in those located in regions with more developed digital infrastructure. However, firms with higher pre-existing digital maturity and those in regions with stricter environmental regulations tend to experience diminishing marginal benefits from digital transformation on RGI. Given the imperative to advance sustainable governance and the prevalence of digital technologies, this paper provides micro-level evidence supporting the role of digital transformation in fostering sustainable development goals.</p>
