摘要

We report the second record of the invasive marbled spinefoot, Siganus rivulatus Forsskål & Niebuhr, 1775 (Siganidae), in the Black Sea off the southwestern coast of Crimea (Balaklava Bay). Native to tropical and subtropical waters of the western Indian Ocean, S. rivulatus has successfully established populations in the Mediterranean Sea following its entry through the Suez Canal. Here, we provide biological and ecological data for the collected specimen, including age, growth, sex, gonad maturity, and stomach contents. Comparative analysis with published data from other regions highlights the species’ life-history traits and potential for naturalization in the Black Sea. Our findings contribute to understanding the ongoing tropicalization of the Black Sea and the ecological implications of Lessepsian fish invasions.
