<p>The integration of digital tools and collaborative learning strategies has become increasingly important in modern education. Blended learning, which combines face-to-face and online learning, is seen as an effective approach to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. As educational practices continue to evolve, it is essential to explore the impact of group cooperative learning within blended teaching environments. The study aims to investigate the specific role of group cooperative learning within blended teaching environments, and its effects on student engagement and learning outcomes. It contributes to the field of educational technology by exploring how traditional pedagogical strategies can be enhanced with digital tools to improve learning outcomes. Drawing on Lefebvre’s Theory of the Production of Space, Osguthorpe and Graham’s blended learning model, and the IBIS discussion model, the research evaluates the interaction dynamics and learning outcomes of cooperative learning compared to individual learning. In an experimental design, 27 sixth-grade students from a public elementary school in Taiwan were divided into experimental (group cooperative learning) and control (individual learning) groups. Data were collected through pre-and post-tests, behavioral observations, and focus group interviews. Interviews were conducted with 14 participants (7 randomly selected from the experimental group and 7 from the control group.) Quantitative data were analyzed using non-parametric statistical methods, including the Mann–Whitney U test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test, due to the small sample size. In addition, ANCOVA was conducted to control for pre-test differences and further examine post-test performance between groups. The results showed improvements in both groups, but only the control group demonstrated statistically significant gains in learning outcomes. Observations revealed varying interaction frequencies and challenges within the experimental group. Interviews indicated mixed preferences for group versus individual learning, with a slight preference for cooperative learning in more complex scenarios. These findings suggest that limitations such as group composition and insufficient access to digital devices may have influenced the performance of the experimental group. These findings provide valuable insights into the dynamics of group interaction in blended settings, offering practical implications for educators seeking to optimize learning experiences and enhance student engagement. The study also aligns with current trends in education, highlighting the growing need for effective strategies that integrate digital tools into blended learning models. Furthermore, the study highlights the potential of group cooperative learning in educational contexts beyond traditional in-person settings, suggesting a framework for future research in this area.</p>
