<p>Simulations have been used in nursing and medical trainings, providing various scenarios for students to learn in a real and safe setting, and had been found successful. There are problems in business education because of the evolution of technology. Students need to equip themselves with appropriate knowledge. Simulation might be one of the solutions. There is a literature gap whether student engagement could enhance student satisfaction and academic performance in simulation exercises. The context of this study is using computerised simulations in business subjects at higher education institutions. The cloud-based supply chain system <i>Swivel</i> was used for transaction process and decision support. 110 students in Hong Kong were asked to complete the survey after completing their simulation exercises in business subjects. Results indicate that students are highly engaged in their studies, ultimately leading to higher satisfaction and academic performance using simulation exercises. Perceived learning has direct effects on satisfaction and performance. It provides educators and school administrators with insights for designing effective curricula. Students learn the software when they construct their own answers in simulation exercises.</p>
