Decoding the court: Insights into basketball training and performance optimization through time-motion analysis

Basketball, a dynamic team sport, demands a multifaceted approach to training and competition for players’ well-being and optimal performance. This investigation aims to analyze basketball training with match-play demands and recovery strategies in the context of time-motion analysis. A descriptive research design with a quantitative approach was utilized to measure the physical requirements placed on basketball players during training sessions. The study encompassed 387 basketball athletes, with 53.48% males and 46.51% females. Regarding years in basketball participation, 28.16% had been involved for 1–5 years, 33.85% for 6–9 years, 22.99% for 10–14 years, and 14.98% for over 14 years. The information was gathered through a survey questionnaire, utilizing a purposive sampling method, and analysis was conducted using SPSS software. Findings suggest that players undergoing specific match-play simulation training exhibit improved performance in real matches. The utilization of wearable technology positively impacts players’ understanding of physical exertion, contributing to performance optimization. The study’s unique integration of time-motion analysis with recovery strategies provides valuable insights into player performance and well-being, with implications for training methodologies. Additionally, emphasizing the benefits of incorporating mental training techniques alongside physical training enhances decision-making skills and overall game performance. This comprehensive approach offers a nuanced understanding of basketball training, ultimately enhancing player performance and ensuring their well-being.
