<p>A new phenylpropanoid 3-(2′-hydroxy-3′,4′,5′-trimethoxyphenyl)-propanoic acid (<b>1</b>), together with 12 known compounds, were isolated from the methanol extract of the leaves of <i>Cryptocarya yunnanensis</i>. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, including HR-ESI-MS, IR, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy. Cytotoxic properties of compounds <b>1</b>, <b>2</b>, <b>3</b>, and <b>5</b> were evaluated against five human tumor cell lines (HL-60, SMMC-7721, A549, MCF-7, and SW480). Compound <b>5</b> showed moderate cytotoxicity against the tested cell lines with IC<sub>50</sub> of 7.5–37.5 μΜ.</p>
