摘要

The synthesis of cyclic carbonates from diols under carbon dioxide pressure is a challenging task. Shifting the equilibrium toward product formation is possible by chemically binding the condensation water generated during the cycloaddition process. The addition of trifluoroacetic anhydride and N,N-diisopropylethylamine to a solution of diol under carbon dioxide pressure leads to the formation of cyclic carbonates with 72% yield. The addition of heterogeneous catalysts containing MgO and CeO2 to the reaction mixture allows the reaction yield to increase up to 98%.
