<p></p><p>An efficient, environmentally friendly protocol was developed for the synthesis of 4-substituted 1,5-benzodiazepines <i>via</i> a one-pot threecomponent reaction. <i>o</i>-Phenylenediamines, dimedone, and aldehydes were reacted in the presence of silica-supported orthophosphoric acid (H<sub>3</sub>PO<sub>4</sub>·SiO<sub>2</sub>) as an environmentally friendly, heterogeneous catalyst at 70°C to produce 4-substituted 1,5-benzodiazepines. High to excellent yields, metal-free, environmentally friendly, reusable catalyst, and faster reactivity are the notable features of the developed protocol.</p>
