Ranking multiple antivirus software solutions: a borda-based mcdm approach to performance evaluation
摘要
Driven by technological advancements, the growing prevalence of cyber threats poses a significant risk to the security of computer systems. Utilization of antivirus software is the indispensable first line of defense against such threats. With the numerous antivirus products available, though, the selection of the best product is a daunting experience for customers. While independent testing agencies like AV-Comparatives, AV-Test, and SELabs carry out serious tests, their diverse test methodologies make it hard to identify a truly effective antivirus product. To address this challenge, the present study commenced with the identification of six antivirus programs that are frequently subjected to ranking. Subsequently, the six products were assessed across twelve distinct performance criteria, which formed the basis for the evaluation. Ten Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods were then employed to analyze the selected antivirus software, and the resulting rankings were aggregated using Borda’s Rule. The aim of this study is to identify the most suitable antivirus program, with the comprehensive evaluation ranking McAfee as the top-performing option.
