RETRACTED ARTICLE: Internet of things and distributed security framework for 5G networks

5G technology is growing rapidly and relies heavily on network virtualization to increase flexibility and scalability. For this purpose, network slicing and network function virtualization technologies have been widely used to dynamically provide different types of services to tenants. Despite these advances, there is still no well-defined security architecture, and 5G defense security has become an open and challenging research area. As a result, this research proposes a distributed security framework that uses several different security modules called Virtual Security Functions (VSF), considering different layers in the 5G architecture and exploiting the concept of Virtual Network Functions. The defensive security mechanism is thus described in multiple modules, each designed for use in a specific application at a distinct layer of the 5G architecture. In this way, each VSF will be distributed across the network and used only when needed, leading to load balancing of security processing needs. The simulation scenario accurately demonstrates the performance of the proposed framework compared to a generic security framework used as a reference point. Also, we have compared the proposed approach in terms of load, distance, coverage and throughput criteria compared to two similar methods and the simulation results showed that it performs better in all parameters.
